I grew up on a tobacco farm in rural North Carolina where my grandparents were completely self-sufficient. This instilled in me the idea that I could do whatever needed to be done, giving me the freedom to bring my ideas to life. I do not have a formal education in art. My education comes from speaking with artists, and visiting museums, and art galleries. Later I would study, sketch, or make maquettes to see what fueled their passion and what mechanisms were used as they created their art. This allows me to, on some basic level, appreciate what they had produced and in turn, it inspires me.

From an early age, art and design were always the best ways in which I conveyed myself to the world around me. Art is not as much my passion as it is something that I have to do. In my mind, I continuously design, redesign, and work out the process to produce my work. Creating my art and offering the finished product to someone is when I’m truly happy.
